In 2016, production declined by 5.2% compared to 2015 due to the decrease in the volume of production of reindeer in the far Eastern Federal district by 26.1% or 2,3 thousand tons to 1.7 thousand tons.

In 2017-2021 gg is expected to increase the production of reindeer meat in Russia an average rate of 2.6% per year. In 2017-2018, the pace of growth will be slightly higher. It will be connected with the existing installation of the authorities of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous district to reduce the number of deer that will lead to the slaughter of a greater number of animals than usual. In 2021 the volume of production of reindeer meat in Russia will reach 10.3 thousand tons.

Develop the supply of Russian reindeer meat abroad. In 2012-2016, the main exports of this type of meat was carried out agro-industrial enterprises located on the Yamal Peninsula. The leadership of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district intends to continue to export venison to Europe. An agreement was signed with the Finnish company Polarica Oy on the delivery of the product this company for a period of 10 years. In 2017-2021 gg Russian venison exports will grow by an average rate of 7.3% per year. It is expected that in 2021 it will reach 615,3 T.
