Consumption of fruit in Russia increased by 2%
In 2016 the indicator of per capita food consumption of fruits in terms of fresh fruit was 72.7 kg. This was 2% more than in 2015.

In 2016 the indicator of per capita food consumption of fruits in terms of fresh fruit was 72.7 kg. This was 2% more than in 2015, Citizens continue to consume much more fruit – according for 2016 is 16% more people in rural areas.

According to marketing research of world and Russian market of fruit and berries, conducted by GLOBAL REACH CONSULTING (GRC), about 68% of the total volume of consumption is fresh fruit. Quite a large part of the Russians consume fruits in the form of juice 18%, while the share of frozen and canned fruits and fruits products in the structure of the per capita consumption of fruits and berries accounts for 10%. The townspeople bypass much of the rural population for the consumption of fresh fruits and berries, as well as on the consumption of juices. The villagers consume 2.3 times more frozen and canned fruit than people in urban areas.

Among the regions of Russia the maximum rate of consumption of fruits and berries is observed in Sevastopol – more than 125 kg per consumer per year, the lowest – in the Republic of Ingushetia – 32 kg.
