In addition, the project will be implemented for environmental monitoring of the river Ob, with the participation of Siberian and Ural branches of RAS. Also, scientists will continue to explore the culture, education and the rights of small indigenous peoples of the North.

"Science on the Yamal Peninsula is focused on solving applied problems associated with the industrial development of the region, the impact of environmental factors on the health of the population, development of agriculture", – said the Director of the Department Alexey Titovskiy.

In 2016 Yamal farmers started an experiment on growing in the far North berries - strawberries, raspberries and currants. To do this, beyond the Arctic circle was established 15 greenhouses. This allowed not only to diversify the Northern diet, but also to ensure the employment of local residents. In addition, in the far North have grown cucumbers, herbs, tomatoes and bell pepper.
