The government introduced a bill on organic agriculture, the corresponding order was signed by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

"The production of organic (ecologically clean) products require a separate legislative regulation, since the technology used in its production are substantially different from technologies used in conventional agriculture", - stated in the explanatory note on the website of the Cabinet.

The government bill introduces the concept of "organic" and "organic products" and provides for the regulation of production of plant, animal and microbial origin in the natural, processed or revised form.

After the adoption of the law, farmers will be able to voluntarily certify the conformity of their products with the organic standards and will have the opportunity to mark them with a special sign.
