In the commodity structure of export of Russia the share of food and agricultural raw materials in 2017 amounted to 5.8%.

Compared with the year 2016 increased exports of poultry meat – 42% up to 163,3 thousand tons, pork – by 44.7% to 27.3 thousand tons, frozen fish – by 9.4% to 1.4 million tons, of the dried leguminous vegetables of 30.4% to 1.3 million tons, wheat – by 30.4% to 33 million tons, barley – 1.6% to 4.6 mln tons, soybeans by 23% to 519,7 thousand tons, rapeseed – 3.4 times till 191,4 thousand tons, sunflower seeds is 1.7 times to 313,6 thousand tons of vegetable oils by 26.6% to 3.1 million tonnes, of margarine – by 12.4% to 182,2 thousand tons of molasses – 44.3% to 730,6 thousand tons of sugar – in 5.3 times up to 553,8 thousand tons, of chocolate – 18.4% to 186,6 kt.

In terms of value the basic commodity positions in exports of agricultural products were:

cereals (36,4%, including wheat – 28%);
fish and fish products (16,8%, including frozen fish – 9,9%);
vegetable oil (11,8%, including sunflower oil, sugar – 8,6%);
waste and residues of food industry (4,2%);
tobacco and tobacco products (3%);
chocolate (2,6%);
dried leguminous vegetables (2%).

Amid growing exports in 2017, compared to 2016, imports of cattle meat – by 2.2% to 358,7 thousand tons, butter – by 6.5% to 98.8 thousand tons, eggs – by 13% to 81.3 thousand tons, soybeans – 2% to 2236,7 thousand tons, coconut oil, 19.3% to 73 thousand tons, sugar – by 2.1 times to 266,3 thousand tons of raw tobacco products – by 20.5% to 154,3 thousand tons.

For increasing the export capacity of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia from the beginning of 2017 priority is implementing the project "the Export of agricultural products", which laid the Foundation to support and promote exports from the state.
