Irkutsk branch of all-Russian center of plant quarantine (VNIIKR) finds weed organisms in almost every 50-th packet of seeds submitted to the study. This was at a press conference dedicated to the quality of seeds in the Irkutsk region, said the expert of the testing laboratory Irkutsk branch of the center of the Marina Garone.

"From the Rosselkhoznadzor we are seeds with high phytosanitary risk are seeds of carrot, celery, dill, parsley, Basil, lettuce. But I can say that the quality of seed material in the Angara region there is little focus on the quarantine inspection of seed residents, cultivating private plots, and entrepreneurs do not attach much importance. The amount of seed received for verification to the testing laboratory in 2017, is very reduced compared to the 2016-th year. And this year we have not received any complaints from area residents and businesses, the samples came only from the Rosselkhoznadzor. But despite this we identify a lot of weed".

"In 2017 and 2018 identify very many seeds of bitterling creeping, in 2016 — the seeds of Ipomoea hederacea and series hairy. Both of these plants are in the list of weeds which are absent in Russia. This means that the seeds are of foreign origin, although the documents they produced in our country," said Marina Garone.

As noted the Deputy chief of Department of quarantine phytosanitary control Rosselkhoznadzor for the Irkutsk region and Buryatia Republic Vyacheslav Shevchenko, the amount of the contaminated batch, which is revealed in the first quarter of this year amounted to 4,183 thousand packages.
