As noted by the President of the NRA of the Roots of Beidou, the use of space technologies for agricultural insurance is already firmly established in the everyday practice of member companies, NSA, for which the Union organized a centralized access to the system. The space-based monitoring gives a more accurate estimation of risks and their rating, and, importantly, greater transparency in the settlement of losses. Moreover, the use of space monitoring in the examinations – one of the amendments of the bill on agricultural products insurance with state support, which the NSA agreed with the Ministry of Finance, Central Bank and Ministry of agriculture, and which is planned to be considered at the meeting of the state Duma this year. As explained by the Roots of Beidou, NSA intends to provide insurers and farmers the widest range of opportunities of space monitoring, which carefully examines all of these developments offered on the market today.

"VEGA-Pro" is a project of Russian scientists. Earlier in IKI has passed presentation of the possibilities of this tool, where members of NSA was presented with the potential of this development for insurance of crops. During the workshop, scientists IKI practice trained insurance specialists skills you use "VEGA". The participants of the seminar were the possibility of using the "VEGA-Pro" in terms of the vegetation index of plant development (NDVI) to independently assess the condition of crops at the field level and regions based on criteria such as the presence of a crop rotation, the development of selhozarteli on the sidelines, the impact of drought on the condition of the crops; to check the consistency of information about cultures.

After the seminar, the experts of insurance companies positively assessed the possibility of "VEGA-Pro", suggesting also the course of further research to adapt some elements of the Russian development for the needs of insurance.

From 1 January 2016 at the market of agricultural insurance with state support is a single national Association, the national Union of agricultural insurers. Insurance companies, who are members of the NSA, from 1 January 2016 are not eligible to enter into contracts of insurance with state support. The creation of a centralized system of agricultural insurance in the Russian Federation is provided by Federal law 22.12.2014 No. 424-FZ on amendments to the Law "On state support in agricultural insurance..." №260-FZ.
