The Kurgan was a day of II international forum "Innovations in konoplivtsi for the solution of environmental problems", organized by ID "Vedomosti". The event brought together business representatives, scientists, experts from different fields of activity, says Anna Andrievsky portal recyclemag.ru.

The forum was devoted to the processing and industrial use of technical (non-narcotic) hemp. In some countries the processing of hemp is considered to be one of the innovative solutions that can help to cope with global environmental problems.

Konoplevodami not only in the Kurgan region, but generally in Russia has a long tradition. Until 1940, Russia occupied a leading place in the world for the processing of hemp – our country accounted for about 82% of the acreage of hemp in the world.

However, after joining the UN Single Convention on narcotic drugs in the USSR and then in Russia has banned the production and processing of industrial hemp. In the last few years the situation began to change, and the industrial use of hemp represents a great opportunity. So, it is possible to produce pulp, composite materials, clothes, baby food, diapers, cosmetics and many more.

One of these projects will be in the city Dalmatovo of the Kurgan region. Here the company "Progresson" launches biodegradable packaging based on composite material made of hemp will appear. The Memorandum was signed at the forum.

"We are launching the production of packaging made of 100 % biodegradable material. Production will be waste-free and carbon-neutral. Out of recycled hemp we are going to produce pulp, paper, textiles, fertilizer, biofuel, biodiesel and other products," - said the curator of the project on the cultivation and deep processing of industrial hemp from the company "Progresson" Marina Dmitrieva.

The packaging will be used for food products, it can completely decompose without harm to the environment in a period of several weeks to three months. There are already potentially interested in joint manufacturing partners.

In 2019 to collect documents, to pass the state examination and all necessary approvals, then the company will begin construction of a hemp processing company. Production will be launched within two years.

"Progresson" plans to plant hemp 100 thousand ha in the Kurgan region. The cost of private investment in the project will amount to $ 2 billion, the company plans to achieve breakeven in five years. The new facility will be able to provide 2,000 jobs.
