"We're going to take the bar high to make the biggest deal that China has ever concluded with our farmers, so our farmers we should support to enable them to succeed," said trump to reporters in the White house, but did not provide more details about what it will be for the aid package.

Soybeans are the most valuable export commodity in the US, and exports to China fell to a 16-year low in 2018, while prices for soybean futures last week fell to an 11-year lows.

The Minister of agriculture of the United States Sonny Perdue said Friday that trump asked him to develop a plan to help American farmers to cope with the severe impact of the us-Chinese trade war on agriculture.

"Of the billions of dollars that we charge (in the form of increased duties on imports from China), a small portion of these funds will go to our farmers, because China is probably to a certain extent, wanted to get back on our agriculture," said trump.

On Monday, China said it will impose higher duties on some US goods, including frozen vegetables and liquefied natural gas, causing retaliation in a trade war with Washington after trump has warned about the increase in duties on Chinese goods.

Last year, Beijing imposed increasing duties on agricultural imports from the United States, including soybeans, grain sorghum, and pork.

The soybean exports to China fell by more than 90 percent and sales of U.S. soybeans in other countries are unable to compensate for the loss.

While farmers mostly continue to support trump, a call for the immediate cessation of a trade dispute, which led to growth of debts of farmers to the highest levels over the past decade, and worsened rural economy.
