The Department indicates that the supply of livestock and crop production from Paraguay to Russia was discussed at a meeting between representatives of the Rosselkhoznadzor with the extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Paraguay Republic in the Russian Federation Ramon Diaz Pereira.

"The parties discussed issues of the forthcoming visit of a delegation of Russian specialists to Paraguay to assess the system of control of export of agricultural products", - stated in the message.

Annual exports from Paraguay to Russia of grain and products of its processing is about 1 million tons, the largest amount in Russia are supplied soybeans, according to a press release.

Russian authorities have paid attention to the cases of detection in batches of beans such considerable exceeding of the content of the permissible level of the pesticide – glyphosate. Appropriate notices with a request to take measures to ensure compliance with the requirements of Russian legislation, sent to the Paraguayan security and quality of plant products and seeds (SENAVE), the report says.

Besides, the Rosselkhoznadzor informed Pereira about the lifting of restrictions on the supply of beef from two Paraguayan enterprises, while noting the need to ensure product safety. "This is especially true given the repeated detection by the Rosselkhoznadzor of Paraguayan beef residues of tetracycline antibiotics," - said in a press release.
