The negative Outlook on the production of oilseed rape in the EU in 2016-17 gave analysts from Germany. According to the data, the production of specified oilseed crops may decline by 0.4 million tonnes compared with the previous year. The final mark of rapeseed production in the EU could reach of 21.15 million tons.

The expected result is 1.1 million tons lower than last year, and 3.2 million tons is removed from the record of 2014-15. Experts note that the greatest decline in production of oilseed rape is projected in countries such as the UK, France and Poland. As for the Russian market of oilseed canola, previously, experts noted the positive trend over the last 10 years the total harvest of rape seeds increased by almost 4 times. However, in 2015 there is a reduction of the collection rate of rape in Russia - the harvest amounted to 1012,2 thousand tons, which is by 24.4% or 325,8 thousand tons less than in 2014. The decrease was the decline of cultivated areas (14.3%) and falling yields. In turn, the reduction in acreage is largely due to the weakening of prices for canola on the world markets.

Key regions of cultivation of rapeseed (TOP 10 regions): Kaliningrad oblast, Tula oblast, Stavropol Krai, Republic of Tatarstan, Lipetsk oblast, Ryazan oblast, Tyumen oblast, Krasnodar Krai, Kemerovo oblast and Altai Krai. The share of the TOP 10 regions in 2015 accounted for 60,4% of all volumes of the oilseed to Russia.

It is known that as of 25 July this year in Russia rapeseed throughout the areas of 54.8 thousand hectares harvested 107.4 thousand tons.
