The international Grains Council (IGC) raised its forecast of global grain production this season by 20 mln tonnes, including wheat - 6 million tons, corn - 14 million tons.

As a result, the gross grain harvest will reach 2046 million tons, 1 million tons less than the record level established in 2014/15. Wheat production, according to the updated forecast, will amount to 735 million tons (736 million tons last season), corn - 1017 (968) million tons.

Due to the good harvest and large initial reserves global supply of grain will be high in the history. Thus, in comparison with the last month have improved prospects of the corn crop in the US and wheat in the CIS countries and the USA. However, in the EU, especially in France, wheat yields and quality has suffered from untimely rains.

A large part of the increased supply of grain will be absorbed by increased consumption, which, according to experts, to update the record and reaches 2029 million tons. For feed purpose will be used 896 (890) million tons of grain.

Ending stocks of grain in this season will increase to 488 (471) million tons, 6 million tons more than predicted a month ago.

Analysts IGC report that the activity of the world grain trade will be much lower than last season - 324 (341) million tonnes. One of the reasons for the decline in the volume of trade are taken by the government of China's measures to stimulate consumption of grain.
