The Kenyan government forbade the millers to import wheat to protect domestic farmers from falling prices, according to Informagentstvo Online , citing The Star.

The Ministry of agriculture of Kenya has warned the millers that they risk losing their licences if they break the ban. USDA also announced a new price at which farmers will sell wheat to the millers - 3000 shillings per 90 kg.

"The government held a meeting with the millers and explained to them the decision. We will not allow imports of wheat, while stocks of farmers will not be exhausted", — said the Minister of agriculture of Kenya Richard Larrison Luciana.

The Minister also noted that the millers prefer to import wheat at a price of 2500 shillings.
