In June, Indonesia imported 902,778 tons of wheat, which is 13% less than in may, but by 38.07% higher than in June 2015.

Indonesia is the second largest wheat importer after Egypt, and in 2015, imported a record volume of 9.9 million tonnes (according to USDA).

Imports 1st half of 2016, the proportion of Australian wheat was 36.3 per cent, considerably less than in the same period last year (68.6 percent).

Traders explain the reduction in imports of Australian wheat is higher than other exporters prices. One of these exporters is Ukraine, which had 14.9 percent of the semi-annual import of wheat last year is 1.9%.

Ukrainian wheat treated Indonesian refiners at 20-30 $/ton cheaper than Australian including freight. Importers also noted the improvement of the quality of Ukrainian wheat relative to last year. However, by the end of the year, sea freight rates fall, prices for Australian wheat currently gone down, and traders expect that the cost advantage of Ukrainian wheat will decrease to $15/ton.

The proportion of canadian wheat was 15.2% or 870,28 thousand tons, 13.6% more than a year ago. The share of US wheat was 7% or 405,475 thousand tons, which is 71.2 percent more than a year ago.
