In the 2015/16 season, which began in October 2015 South Africa imported 2,029 million tons of wheat, which is 10.7% more than the previous season. The growth of imports was influenced by a reduction in private harvest due to drought.

First place for the wheat supply in South Africa remains for Russia. During the period under review from Russia were imported 931,3 thousand MT of wheat (719,8 THD. MT in the season of 2014/15). From Germany it was delivered 283,5 (348,4) kt, from Poland - 185,0 (91,5) thousand tons, from USA - 177,9 (28,3) kt, from Lithuania - 151,0 (43,8) kt, from Ukraine -109,4 (279,4) thousand tons, from Canada - 102,8 (105,5) kt.
