Bangladesh: imports of wheat increased by 77%
Foreign agricultural service at the U.S. Department of agriculture (FAS USDA) increased the forecast of wheat imports to Bangladesh in the current season to 4.7 million tonnes
The upward adjustment occurred in connection with the wider diffusion of new production bakery. In the 2015/16 season, which ended in June, Bangladesh imported 4,482 million tonnes.
The volume of imports of wheat for three months of the current season increased to 1.2 million tonnes, which is 77% higher than the same period last year.
Bangladesh is a net wheat importer as its own production does not provide even a third of annual consumption.
