As specified, in March-may import three key vegetable oils (soybean, palm and sunflower) in South Africa decreased by 17% in the year to 181 (217) thousand tons. The main decrease in supply observed in the segment of soybean oil - up to 28 (51) thousand tons. Of this amount 18 (31) thousand tons was imported from EU countries, 10 (20) thousand tons from Argentina.

Imports of sunflower oil in South Africa in the reporting period amounted to 34 (39) thousand tonnes, palm – 119 (127) thousand tons.

It should be noted that the domestic processing of soybeans in the country in March-may this year was lower than last year, while processing of sunflower seeds increased by 39%, which was the main reason for the reduction of import oils.
