As specified, the increase in monthly supply volume was achieved due to the increased demand for oilseeds from Pakistan and Serbia, which could compensate for the downward trend of purchases by Turkey. In October, Pakistan imported 41 (30) thousand tons of sunflower seeds from the EU, and Serbia, where domestic production of sunflower seed in the current season decreased by 13%, contracted 33 (0) thousand tons European sunflower.

However, by the end of August-October the export of sunflower seeds from the EU decreased by 11% in the year to 0.13 million tons due to reduced imports of oilseed Pakistan to 41 (102) thousand tonnes and Turkey, to 10 (15) thousand tons. The volume of supply in Serbia increased to 51 (1) thousand tonnes.

It is expected that the demand for European sunflower in the remaining months of the season will increase amid a record harvest in the EU and as a consequence, lower than last year, bid prices.
