A United Nations aid agency has recently purchased 40,083 tonnes of Indian-origin wheat to be shipped to the East African state of Djibouti and to Bangladesh, European traders said on Monday.

Some 33,000 tonnes for Djibouti was sold by trader Central Pacific and shipment takes place between Apr. 10 to May 10.

In a separate deal, the agency also bought 7,083 tonnes of wheat for Bangladesh from another trading company to be sourced from India for shipment between May 15-31.

The U.N. has a range of food aid programmes underway in East Africa and Bangladesh.
