In the Pskov region is conducted work on replacement of pigs in personal subsidiary agriculture) other species of animals as part of activities to combat the virus of African swine fever (ASF)

In the Pskov region earned the program for transfer of personal part-time farms of the region, specialized in pig on alternative kinds of animals. This program is designed to reduce the risk of the spread of African swine fever in private households, and, as a consequence, in the region.

Under the program, on request, alternatively, farmers and owners of SIH can choose bulls, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, birds, bees. The Pskov region administration provides grants for reimbursement of the cost of acquisition other species in the amount of 100% and their delivery. "If someone wants to practice cultivation, or break the apiary, we are ready to provide land from the Fund unclaimed shares, the cost of this we also compensate," explains Deputy Governor of the Pskov region Sergey Pernikov. Moreover, regional authorities will compensate for the cost of feed for new animals.

Pskov authorities have developed two variants of obtaining compensation: in the first case the farmer self acquires the cattle, and the administration of the region then reimburses all spent on the purchase of new animals funds; in the second case, the obligations on purchasing and delivery of cattle takes over the administration of the Pskov region.

According to Sergei Pernikov, the program will operate till the end of 2014. Today in private farms of several districts of the region it was replaced already 140 heads of pigs.
