The volume of production of agricultural products in Russia in January-August increased in current prices by 4.9% compared with the same period last year - up to 2,096 trillion rubles, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the operational report of Rosstat. In August, the growth of agricultural production amounted to 4.6 per cent was produced at 543,6 billion.
The country has reduced the number of cattle by 1.8% compared with the same period last year to 20.4 million. The number of pigs increased by 1.2% to 20.6 million, sheep and goats - by 1.1%, to 27 million
The domestic sector accounted for 45.9% of the population structure of cattle, 21.2% of pigs, 46.1 per cent of sheep and goats (at the end of August 2013 - 46,3%, 24.4 percent and 46.5%, respectively).
Production of cattle and poultry for slaughter in the first eight months of the current year in all categories of farms increased by 4% to 7.4 million tonnes (live weight), in August, 3.3%to 0.9 million tons.
Milk production decreased in January-August by 0.7% to 21.4 million tonnes in August, up 0.8%to 3.1 million tons. Egg production in the first eight months fell 1.4 percent to 27.9 billion units during August - on the contrary, increased by 3%, to 3.7 billion pieces.
