As reported by the Ministry of agriculture, the Minister expressed "serious concern about the significant increase in the gap between wholesale and consumer prices for sugar, which, according to experts, caused by higher trade margins organizations, leading retail trade.

According to Rosstat, the growth of consumer prices for sugar for December 2014 to the same period of 2013 amounted to 40%.

"Our pricing depends on the prices in the common market and the prices of suppliers. Thus, the selling price of sugar in September, for example, was 29 rubles per kilogram, and in December of providers on the exchange has proposed a minimum price of 60 rubles, referring to General market conditions and the growth rate of foreign currency", - explained the representative of X5 Retail Group Vladimir Rusanov.

"The change in sugar prices is largely due to the increase in the ruble prices for the supply of imported raw sugar due to currency fluctuations, what providers notify the network for several months", - said the representative of "Dixie" Catherine Kamanina.

According to her, in the network moratorium on increasing margins on socially important goods. "Retail margin "Dixie" for socially important goods does not exceed units percent," said Kamanina.

As noted by the retailers, the price of sugar in the stores did not rise immediately, sometimes the network sold it with a negative margin. "In December in supermarkets, for example, we sold sugar even with negative margin at the expense of reserves," says Rusanov.

"The network is forced to raise retail prices, making it asymmetric, assesses the adequacy of the adjustments and carefully analyzes each notification to the exclusion of speculative component", - added Kamanina.
