The decree comes into force on 3 September this year.

The document is limited to the purchase of fish, meat (beef, pork, poultry, veal, offal), dairy products (milk, butter, cheese), rice, salt and sugar.

To limit public procurement of imported products will be according to the principle of "the third wheel": if in the course of purchase have been filed at least two applications for the supply of products, the country of origin is the state of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU), the application with the imported products rejected.

Russia's agriculture Ministry earlier reported that the volume of procurement for certain food products for the social sector constitutes 4-13% of the total volume of production in the country. According to experts, the need of the social sphere of food is 650 thousand tons of meat, 1.5 million tons of milk and 350 thousand tons of fish.
