According to the Russian Ministry, Morocco's exports to Russia a significant amount of citrus, as well as significantly increased its supply of tomatoes, peaches, pears, apples and other products of plant origin. In turn, Russia has significantly increased its export volume to Morocco wheat.

Meanwhile, the conditions imposed by Russia anticyclonic measures against EU countries, and the special economic measures against Turkey, which occupies the first significant place in the domestic food market, significantly increased risks of illegal exports to Russia of plant products.

In order to ensure the interests of the state, as well as the phytosanitary security of the country, the Rosselkhoznadzor carries out extensive work on the authorization of the phytosanitary certificates that accompanied by which regulated goods come to Russia. The result of this activity in 2015 were identified 140 cases of forgery of a Moroccan phytosanitary documents, with production reported in Russia complex logistics routes through the territory of the European Union. In turn, the Moroccan side said that the bulk of plant products from Morocco to Russia comes direct by sea transport.

The Moroccan party informed that the increased volume of fruit exports to Russia is associated with the desire of Moroccan business to attract additional resources for the development of the niche in the Russian market, which was previously occupied by food products from Turkey. At the same time representatives of the North African country have indicated that they have production facilities to further increase the volume and expand the range of exported to Russia direct by plant products with strict control over compliance with the Russian phytosanitary requirements.
