Antalya province, which accounted for around 2/3 of the fruit and vegetable exports to Russia, due to the food embargo has reduced deliveries to the Russian market by 91%, that is, almost completely stopping them. This was announced by the President of the chamber of Commerce of Antalya province Davutoglu, Cetin.

"Because of the Russian agricultural embargo Turkey has suffered a lot of damage, but the greatest damage was done exactly the Antalya region. The damage is enormous", he said.

So, for eight months of 2016 Antalya has put to Russia of vegetables and fruits for $14.5 million against $163,6 million for the same period in 2015. The export of vegetables for the period fell by 97% to $3.5 million compared to $116,6 million a year earlier. The supply of fruit from Antalya to the Russian market decreased by 74% to $10.7 million versus $40.9 million in the first eight months of 2015.

In General, the export of vegetables and fruits due to the loss of the Russian market were to fall by 60%, but the region was able to partially recoup those losses at the expense of other markets, said D. Cetin.

"We had to fall by 60%, but fell by 23%, 47% managed to attach in different markets", — he said.

Russia imposed a ban on the import of a whole list of agricultural products from Turkey as from 1 January 2016. The list includes fruits (oranges, tangerines, grapes, apples, etc.) and vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, cauliflower, broccoli, etc.), as well as frozen cuts and offal of turkeys and chickens.
