In South Ossetia businessmen began the revival of vineyards in the Republic a few years it is planned to start in industrial winemaking.

"This industry can receive in the Republic by 2020", — said the Minister of agriculture of South Ossetia Vitaly Pliev.

"On the industrial basis of the economy are going to grow different varieties of grapes, doing it young guys. Now we need to grow crops, it will be in three to five years. By 2020, we may see private industrial wine production", — said V. Pliev. He also noted that in South Ossetia the perfect conditions for growing grapes and producing quality wines.

While the revival of the vineyards are two of the economy. Earlier, the head of the Republic Leonid Tibilov said that in South Ossetia wine is produced from local raw materials, but it is – "only Souvenirs" to talk about industrial scale before.

South Ossetia was famous for its vineyards since ancient times, but during the Soviet anti-alcohol campaign 80-ies of the last century most of them were destroyed. Left the vineyards only on private farms, where produce homemade wine for their own consumption.

"Everything was uprooted, and now the rebirth of branded grapes in the territory of South Ossetia", — said the Minister. He explained that there is also work to create "brand of vessels – clay pots in which wine can be stored".
