Many projects remain under implementation. The geography of the construction of greenhouses remains the same: the main investment projects planned for implementation up to 2020, concentrated in the Center (≈600га new greenhouses) and in the South (over 200га).

The domestic market share of the domestic cucumber with 2013 increased from 65% to 85% due to dynamic growth of amounts of production in greenhouses (+40%) and due to a significant decline in imports (-55%). Thus, despite the fall in disposable income, the market capacity in physical terms remains stable.

As for tomato, the second dominant greenhouse crops, in 2013 there was an increase in the share of domestic products from 20% to 40%, with notable growth occurred in 2016, Growth in the production of tomato is largely due to a fall in the profitability of cucumber and the corresponding "shift" greenhouses are more profitable (yet) culture. However, unlike cucumber, the total capacity of the market (greenhouse + imported) of tomato in recent years, fell by more than 30%.

In General, according to the operative data of the Ministry of agriculture of Russia, the increase in production of greenhouse vegetables in 2016 compared to 2015 will be a phenomenal 25-30%. And the final volume of yield of vegetables grown in Russian greenhouses in 2016 will be around 820-850 thousand tons.

In 2016, about a quarter has decreased the volume of imports of fresh cucumbers. The peak of import traditionally occurs in winter, when the production of cucumber in Russian greenhouses are not yet able to fully meet the demand of the population.

The import of tomatoes this year fell by more than a third. The most severe decline in imports was recorded in the period from April to June (on average lower by 37%) that is associated with the departure of Turkey from the Russian market. The share of Turkish tomatoes (at the start 50% of Europe) is partly divided to traditional importers: Morocco, Azerbaijan.

Despite the significant increase in production volumes in the winter period, remains the growth in prices for fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. After a sharp decline of market capacity of tomatoes on the background of the withdrawal of Turkish producers have not yet managed to increase production. The market of greenhouse vegetables quickly is in the area of high saturation and is becoming more complex. To import still far away, and to planned margins investors are becoming difficult now.
