Imports of cheese (excluding cottage cheese) was 189,3 thousand tons (+3.6 percent), including young cheeses – 34,6 thousand tons (26.9% more than in 2015). Imports of cheese increased by 8.8% and amounted to 27.4 thousand tons.

Increased supplies of cheese and cottage cheese is celebrated primarily from the Republic of Belarus (+12 percent, to 186.8 million tonnes, in comparison with year 2015), Serbia (+12%, to 9.0 kt 8.1 kt in 2015), Uruguay (+23%, to 3.2 thousand tons). At that, December's volume of import of cheese and cottage cheese was minimal in 2016, due to the increase in world prices for cheese and the ongoing reorientation of solvent demand for cheaper cheese products.
