Consumer price of buckwheat from the end of August has already decreased by 17.9%, says the report of the Ministry of agriculture for the government Commission. Experts explain that the price of buckwheat has stabilized after its unjustified overstatement on expectations of a poor harvest.

"Since the beginning of September 2016, a reduction in prices for buckwheat. Consumer price was 77,51 rubles per 1 kg and decreased with the end of August 2016 17.9%", – stated in the papers of the Ministry of agriculture.

The trend of reduction of retail prices for buckwheat is also traced according to the Unified interdepartmental information system (EMISS). According to him, in August 2016, the cost of buckwheat was 94,14 rubles per 1 kg by March 2017 has dropped to 79.83 rubles per 1 kg (15.2%).

President of the National Union of grain producers Pavel Skurikhin said that at the end of the summer of 2016 the price of buckwheat has risen unreasonably in the wholesale segment, but now it was correction.

He also added that prices for buckwheat and other grains, is strongly tied to the dollar, as these products are actively exported. The President of National trading Association Vadim Zuikov also believes that the price of buckwheat increased due to unfavorable forecasts.
