As of 19 April 2017 in the Russian Federation fueled 10.7 million hectares (in 2016 and 10.3 million hectares), or 61.5 per cent of the sowing area of winter crops. Including in the southern Federal district – 4.9 million ha or 79.9% of the sowing areas in the North Caucasian Federal district – 1.4 million hectares and 60.9% of the sowing areas, in the Central Federal district of 3.5 million hectares or 88.9% of the sowing areas, in the Volga Federal district – 868,0 thousand hectares or 19.1% of the sowing areas in the northwestern Federal district (Kaliningrad oblast) of 61.9 hectares, or 61.8 per cent of the sowing area.

Spring sowing in the whole country carried out in the area of 5.5 million hectares or 10.5% of the forecast (2016 to 5.7 million hectares). Including in the southern Federal district spring sowing an area of 2.2 million hectares or about 35.6% of the forecast (2016 and 2.4 million hectares). In the North Caucasian Federal district – 801,9 thousand hectares or 44.7% of the forecast (2016 – 711,4 thousand hectares). In the Central Federal district – about 2.3 million hectares or 24.5% of the forecast (2016 – 2.3 million ha). In the far Eastern Federal district – 129,6 thousand hectares or 7% of the forecast (2016 – 124,4 thousand hectares). In the Volga Federal district – 44,5 thousand ha or 0.3% of the forecast (2016 – 200,3 thousand hectares). In the northwestern Federal district (Kaliningrad oblast) – 6.5 thousand ha or 1.3% of the forecast (2016 and 38.5 thousand hectares).

Spring grain crops in the whole country was sown on the area of 3.2 million hectares or 10.3% of the forecast (2016 and 3.5 million hectares). Of these, spring wheat planted on an area of 399.5 opening thousand ha or 2.9% of the forecast (2016 362,7 thousand hectares). Spring barley on the area of 1.6 million hectares, or 20.8% of the forecast (2016 and 1.8 million hectares). Corn for grain area 528,1 hectares, or 17.2 per cent of the forecast (2016 – 617,4 thousand hectares). In the Rostov region sowing of rice, planted 100 hectares or 0.7% of the forecast.

Sugar beet (factory) were sown 580,0 thousand hectares or 51.4% of the forecast (2016 – 629,2 thousand hectares).

Sunflower for grain in certain regions of the southern, North Caucasian and Central Federal districts were sown 835,0 thousand hectares or 11.6% of the forecast (2016 – 748,3 thousand hectares).

In some regions of the Central Federal district, the Republic of Adygea, the Chechen Republic and Penza region spring canola planted on an area of 34.8 thousand hectares or 4% of the forecast (2016 – 39.3 thousand ha).

Soybeans planted on an area of 18,0 thousand ha or 0.8% of the forecast (2016 – 20,9 thousand hectares).

Potatoes in the agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on an area of 30.5 thousand hectares or 9.1% of the forecast (2016 – 29.3 thousand hectares)

Vegetables in agricultural enterprises and peasant (farm) planted on an area of 33.8 thousand hectares or 16.6% of the forecast (2016 – 30.4 thousand hectares).
