In the northwestern Federal district (Kaliningrad oblast) – 6.5 thousand ha or 1.3% of the forecast (2016 and 38.5 thousand hectares).

Spring grain crops in the whole country was sown on the area of 3.2 million hectares or 10.3% of the forecast (2016 and 3.5 million hectares). Of these, spring wheat planted on an area of 399.5 opening thousand ha or 2.9% of the forecast (2016 362,7 thousand hectares). Spring barley on the area of 1.6 million hectares, or 20.8% of the forecast (2016 and 1.8 million hectares).
