For the first quarter of 2017, the volume of Russian production of milk in farms of all categories increased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year and made up 6.41 million tonnes, reported the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation.

The milk production in agricultural organizations increased by 3.1% and made up 3.73 million tonnes.

The largest increase in milk production showed agricultural companies in the Belgorod (+11.5 thousand tons or 12,3%), Voronezh (+11.1 thousand tons or 8.7%), Kirov (+9.5 thousand tons or 6.9%) and Sverdlovsk (+8.1 thousand tons or 6.3%), Tatarstan (+9 thousand tons or 3.5%) and the Republic of Udmurtia (+8.4 million tonnes or 5.5%).

For the first quarter of this year, the average milk yield per cow of dairy herd in the large agricultural enterprises amounted to 1399 kg of milk, which is 5% higher than the same period in 2016.

Note that by the end of 2016, milk production in Russia increased by 2.2%.
