In accordance with the law, a moratorium on the sale to foreigners of agricultural land before amendment to the Constitution of the new record.

According to introduced amendments, suspend the operation of one of articles of the law permitting the transfer of agricultural land to persons who are not citizens of Georgia and registered overseas entities.

The law adds a provision, which gives the agricultural land status of particular value and requires the settlement of ownership rights to her organic law.

At the same time indicated that the amendment will not be a basis for the absolute prohibition of transfers of land to foreigners, it will be possible, based on regulation of special status of the land.

Earlier it was reported that the Georgian authorities took the decision to make a constitutional amendment, according to which agricultural land can be owned by only the citizens of Georgia.
