The government of Abkhazia invited the leadership of the Russian Federation to consider possibility of transition to calculation of customs value of the Abkhazian agricultural products when crossing the Abkhaz-Russian border in rubles. This was announced on Wednesday, press Secretary of the President of the Republic At Avidzba at the briefing following the talks, Raul Khajimba with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which took place on 8 August in Pitsunda.

"One of the important topics discussed in the negotiations, was the calculation of the customs value of products for agricultural purposes when crossing the Abkhaz-Russian border
, said Avidzba. — Today, the calculation of customs value is based on the dollar equivalent, and the meeting discussed the possibility of forming a customs value of agricultural products Abkhazian producers exclusively in rubles".

"Calculation of the customs value of a product based on price in dollars, leads to a change in customs charges for the change in the dollar. This affects the cost of goods exported from Abkhazia to Russia, which is becoming more expensive and less competitive,"
she said.

According to Avidzba was raised and the possibility of customs clearance and phytosanitary control of the Abkhazian agricultural products by Russian agencies on the territory of Abkhazia. "This issue is subject to further discussion and study", she said.
