The Ministry of agriculture raised its forecast for wheat harvest in Russia in 2017-2018 crop year (1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018) to 82 million tons from September's estimates at 81 million tons, from the October review of the Department. Evaluation of wheat exports in the current season was left unchanged at 32.5 million tons. Carryover wheat stocks at the end of the season, according to the forecast of the Ministry, will be of 17.33 million tonnes (in September - 16,835 million).

According to the forecast of USDA, the United States in the current season export of 26.54 million tons of wheat (based on comparison with September remained unchanged), the European Union is 28.5 million tons (forecast unchanged). The wheat crop in the United States this season can be 47,371 million tons (the forecast has been increased by 37 thousand tonnes), the EU — 151,039 million tons (an improvement of 2,169 million tons). World wheat production, according to the U.S. Department of agriculture, in the 2017-2018 marketing year may be 751,185 million tons.

The prediction has been improved compared to the September estimate (it was 744,849 million tons). The Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Alexander Tkachev said that in 2017 Russia can beat the historical record in grain harvest, established in the USSR in 1978, and to harvest 128 million tonnes. Thus, according to the Minister, the grain harvest may reach 130 million tons.
