Panasonic will provide Chinese healthy vegetables with high-tech vertical farms.
Japanese technology giant Panasonic will start selling high-quality vegetables grown on our own innovative farm in Suzhou, China.

Unusual enterprise established in 2016 on the basis of factory on manufacture of electronic components, was originally used solely to demonstrate the possibilities of growing vegetables in a sterile environment using modern technologies. But now the company, whose floor area is 1000 sq. m., reached its planned scope of work. In the foreseeable future, it expects to triple monthly production capacity of up to 9 tonnes.

Panasonic uses in manufacturing LED the special light spectrum, as well as systems that support temperature, humidity and concentration CO2 at a predetermined level. This factory can be grown plants, rich in beta-carotene – regardless of the time of year. Redesigned in salads, they will be sold in 30 stores in the territory of Suzhou and Shanghai. And while prices for "techno-vegetables" will be 2 – 2.5 times higher than the cost of vegetables received more simple and less useful ways Panasonic believe that a product will find its buyer. In his role as the company sees people in China who are concerned about food safety and wanting to provide yourself and your family with organic vegetables without pesticides and other harmful "additives". Hereinafter Panasonic plans to establish cooperation with the local stores to expand distribution.

 

Similar vegetable factories being built in several regions of the country, starting in 2010 with the support of the state. The largest plant covers an area of 9000 sq. m. and monthly produces up to 45 tons of fresh vegetables.
