The Ambassador visited one of the Astrakhan enterprises for breeding of sturgeon. The quality of local black caviar he was assessed as high and the cost of production was considered low – about 45 thousand rubles ($800) per kilogram.

Last year, the region produced 580 tons of sturgeon meat and 10.5 t of caviar, 18 plants bred sturgeon.
