The international Grains Council expects world trade volume of wheat flour in the 2016/17 season will surpass the record figure of the current season.

The increase in the activity of trading of flour from soft wheat varieties will continue for the third season in a row. In the new season, the volume of trade will reach 15.05 million tons in grain equivalent, which is 0.04 million tonnes more than in the current season, and on 0,797 million tonnes more than in the season 2014/15.

A world leader in flour export will remain Turkey, which exports 4,656 million tons (4,550 million tons in the current season). Turkey settled in the first place in flour export since 2012/13. Prior to that, she competed for the first place with Kazakhstan. Second place among the world suppliers of flour in the next season will take Kazakhstan – 2.85 million tons (2.75 million tons).

Thus, the share of Turkey and Kazakhstan in the total volume of world trade in flour will rise to 50% vs. 40% only a few years ago. The following season, Turkish and Kazakh flour will continue to benefit from high demand in neighboring countries of the Middle East and the CIS. Major exporters of flour in the next season will be: EU (1.0 million t), Argentina (0.75 million tons), UAE (0.65 million tonnes) and Pakistan (0.6 million tonnes).
