This was announced by the Deputy Governor of the region Mikhail Glazkov.
"Today, the milking herd in the Vologda region is about 76 thousand cows. Despite some reduction in the number, lately milk production increased. Thus, the average milk yield per one cow at the end of last year reached 6.4 thousand kilograms per year. According to forecasts from relevant departments, this year, average production will be 6.6 thousand pounds", — said M. Glazkov.
According to him, in some farms of the region yields reach 7-8 thousand pounds per cow.
"It is important not only the number of cattle, but also the overall efficiency of the industry, the rates of production of finished products. For example, in the Soviet years, the average yields did not exceed three thousand at times. We demonstrate such indicators as the region has effective breeding work to improve the conditions of cattle, efficiently work to diet formulation feeding" — said the Deputy Governor.
