Iran plans to start supplying 3 million tonnes of wheat till March, 2017 due to an excess of grain in storage. It is assumed that the grain sent to Europe, Asia and the Persian Gulf. This was announced by the agriculture Minister of the country Ali Qanbari.

This year the Republic has set a new record for grain yield of 14 million tonnes, 2.5 million tonnes exceeded last year's figure. Stable growth is observed during the last 3 years. In comparison with other years the increase was much higher.

According to FAO statistics, in 2015 Iran for the third time became the 11th in the world in wheat production. Experts of the Agency Business Monitor International predicts an increase in the harvest of wheat in the country to 2019-2020 years to 16 million tons due to expanding acreage.
