Horsemeat scandal proceeds in Czech Republic where horsemeat was found in pork and beef meatballs

  • Public veterinary administration of the Czech Republic fined the world's largest furniture retailer IKEA at the sum of half a million Czech korunas (about $25 thousand). It happened after scandal with company-branded meatballs which contained horsemeat.
  • In February State veterinary service of Czech Republic carried out series of tests on quality of food which showed 10% of horsemeat in meatballs though according to certificates IKEA meat products contained only pork and beef.
