Iraq issues new tender to buy minimum 30,000 T rice
Iraq tenders rice from the United States, Uruguay, Thailand and Argentina.
Iraq issued a new tender to buy at least 30,000 tonnes of rice with origins from the United States, Uruguay, Thailand and Argentina, a trade ministry source said on Sunday.
The closing date for the tender is July 15, and offers must be valid until July 19.
In its last rice tender reported on May 28, Iraq bought 80,000 tonnes from Thailand.
Iraq frequently buys much more rice than the volumes for which it tenders. It is one of the world's largest importers of rice, much of which goes to supply a national food rationing programme.
