California: Dying bees make almond more expensive
LOS ANGELES – The ever increasing death toll of the honey bee around the globe is no longer worrisome to scientists only but to financial markets as well.

Lovers of candy, breakfast cereals with nuts and Muesli will have to dig deeper in their pockets
to afford the goodies as the numbers of honey bees are declining world wide.
Farmers world wide are also concerned about the large number of honey bees dying and
for American almond farmers in particularly the situation is precarious. Almonds are used extensively in the production of candy and breakfast cereal and amount to a $US5 billion a year business.
