Russia for the first time since 2002 has decided to open its market for meat from the PRC, so the producers of South America has already returned to the previous level of prices jumped immediately after the introduction of retaliatory sanctions, according to "Kommersant".

The Association of meat processing enterprises of Primorsky Krai notes that the meat industry of the region is 90% dependent on imports of raw materials, with half of the imported volume is in the country, who are now under the ban - Australia, Canada, the EU, the second half of the supply comes from Latin and South America. According to the Association, existing reserves will last for two months of work of the enterprises, the establishment of contacts with new suppliers may take 2-6 months.

"We started negotiating new contracts immediately after the introduction of sanctions. But meat prices began to rise in the world market. On average, they jumped by 20% and even higher, "said the President of the Association of meat processing enterprises of Primorsky Krai Paul Kitaev. - But as soon as the Russian government has decided to allow the import of meat from China, which was closed to us because of adverse veterinary situation since 2002, rates in South America declined, returning to its previous doantions level".

As told Kitaev, the government is working on a list of Chinese companies, who will have access to the Russian market. Now in the list of four major companies. The expert noted that Chinese meat may not be enough, therefore, Russia is negotiating with suppliers from New Zealand, formerly the meat in the Russian Federation is not supplied. Kitaev stressed that in the negotiation process in addition to business active participation of the government of the Russian Federation in the person of the Rosselkhoznadzor, because the authority gives permission for delivery to the country of agricultural products.

Experts note that the meat-processing industry of Primorye need to develop its own production, purchasing local products.
