Russia is negotiating to increase imports of horticultural products from Israel. This follows from the Ministry of agriculture of the Russian Federation (Ministry of agriculture) at the end of the meeting, Minister Nikolai Fyodorov with extreme Israeli Ambassador to Russia Dorit Golender.

"Nikolai Fedorov expressed Russia's interest in increasing the volume of purchases of food products from Israel, primarily vegetables and fruits", - stated in the message.

He also noted the positive results of cooperation between the two countries in the field of animal husbandry, crop production, land reclamation, agricultural education and scientific-technical cooperation.

Russia introduced on August 7, the package of measures on sanctions the United States, Australia, Canada, European Union and Norway. Retaliatory sanctions constitute a prohibition for a period of one year for import to Russia from these countries fruits, vegetables, dairy and meat products.

Under the restriction does not include some types of finished meat products (except sausages) and fish. According to the Federal customs service, the total import of "forbidden" food from these four countries and the EU amounted to around 2013 about 9.1 billion.

On August 8, the Rosselkhoznadzor has held talks with representatives of China, Turkey, Serbia, Egypt, Mauritius, Ecuador, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Paraguay, Guatemala, Morocco and Argentina on the opening or expansion of imports into Russia of meat, milk, vegetables, fruits, fish and seafood.

The Russian government intends to replace the drop down because of the sanctions amount of food and to prevent shortages and rising prices by increasing trade exchange with do not fall under the restriction of countries.
