China, the world's buyer of dry distillery stillage (DDG), could not agree with the U.S. on how to avoid genetically modified corn from the composition of the product, volume of sales, which this year is estimated at $1.3 billion.

Representatives of the Ministry of agriculture, U.S. (USDA) held a meeting with representatives of the Chinese authorities and the Committee for quality supervision, to discuss audit procedures DDG exported to China, but could not agree on the means test supplies that are ready to ship or are in transit.

Experts believe that the ideal option is for the parties to use the same cost-effective and efficient testing methods.

Disagreements countries emerged after China refused this year from the delivery of 1.25 million tons of American corn and DDG after the discovery in their composition banned GM maize MIR 162, developed by Syngenta.

International trader Cargill and other companies currently serves in the court against the Swiss seed producer, arguing that the inability Syngenta to get approval from China for the supply of GM corn cost them millions of dollars.

Chinese quarantine Management requires US to certify delivery of DDG as not containing MIR 162. From the supply will not match demand, China will refuse.

The requirement was initially attributed to the supply, after serving 24 July, but later the deadline was moved up to August 18.

The Chinese side prefers testing by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which is more sensitive to genetic material, but is also time consuming and expensive.

Both parties intend to continue the negotiations, but at the present time the meeting is not scheduled.

Chinese quarantine management ceased to issue permits for the import of those companies, the supply of which was discovered MIR 162.

Buyers from China stated that, because the agreement is not reached, they do not intend to pay suppliers supplies that are already in the path.

National information center for import of grain and oil China reported that in 2014 is expected to increase the DDG imports from the United States 57.5% compared with last year to 6.3 million tons. Buyers have booked a lot of cargo to 18 August.

According to official customs data, imports for the first seven months of the year increased by 187% to 3,91 million tons.
