The European Commission (EC) announced that it has received from the Russian authorities, "a short list of new products of animal origin, which are prohibited to be imported into the Russian Federation. With the corresponding statement was made today in Brussels, the EC representative Frederick Vincent.

"The Russian government last week sent a list of new products of animal origin, which are prohibited to be imported. We are currently looking into it and trying to find problems that are identified Russian sanitary authorities", - he said, noting that the quality of European products is one of the highest in the world.

Vincent added that the new list is short, but he, nevertheless, will hit the agricultural sector in the EU. "After studying, we will be able to determine what damage and what countries will be done", - said the representative of the EC.

"We are talking about the list, on which we reported earlier. It includes offal and fats", - explained TASS assistant to the head of the Federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance of the Russian Federation (Rosselkhoznadzor) Alexei Alekseenko.

As previously passed TASS, October 21, came into force a ban on the import into Russia beef subproducts, trimming meat scraps), meat and bone meal, beef, pork and chicken fat. The Rosselkhoznadzor imposed this restriction because of the claims as to the quality and safety of such products coming into Russia from the EU, this decision is not associated with the response of the food sanctions of the Russian Federation. Thus, the Agency has repeatedly found in the European meat offal, trimmings and fat of the Listeria, lead, tetracycline, salmonellosis, chloramphenicol and cadmium.

Meanwhile, Russia has entered August 7, 2014 the package of measures on sanctions the United States, Australia, Canada, European Union and Norway declared by them in connection with the crisis in Ukraine. Retaliatory sanctions including a ban for a period of one year imports almost all meat to Russia from these countries. Under the restriction does not pass certain finished products, byproducts, and meat scraps.

August 20, the government has excluded from the list of products subject to retaliatory food sanctions Russia, concentrates of plant and animal protein, sports nutrition, lactose free milk, vitamin-mineral complexes. Was also lifted the ban on import of seed potatoes, pearl onion, sugar hybrid corn and peas for sowing.

Evaluation of the European Commission, the Russian embargo has affected 4.2% of total exports 28 EU countries for a total amount of 5 billion euros.
