Rosselkhoznadzor specialists predict an increase in the supply of milk from Belarus to Russia 1 million tons by the end of 2016.

In 2014, agricultural enterprises of Belarus produced 6 705 thousand tons of raw milk, in 2015 – 7 047 thousand tons for 10 months of 2016 – 5 717 thousand tons. The average consumption of milk and dairy products per capita in Belarus, according to the national statistics Committee, is 260-270 kg per year, equivalent to 9.5 million inhabitants of the Republic is the use of an average of 2 500 thousand tonnes of milk for internal consumption. Thus, foreign trade is about 3 217 thousand tons of raw milk from which it is possible to produce about 530 thousand tons of finished dairy products, said the Rosselkhoznadzor.

At the same time, the rest of the 47 exporting countries in Russia in 2015 imported only 135 thousand tons of dairy products, and the forecast for 1 Dec 2016 the amount is reduced to 109 thousand tons. In total, the country imported 899 thousand tons of dairy products, of which 790 (87,8%), thousand tons products of Belarusian enterprises.

This changes the types of dairy products supplied by the Belarusian enterprises. In particular, an increasing proportion of very concentrated products for the production of one liter or kilogram of which requires several times more raw milk (2 liters or more). For example, concentrated milk compared to 2015 brought to 85% more dairy whey by 58% and condensed milk by 53%.

The most important Belarusian export positions in 2016 steel milk and cream – 340 thousand tons, cheese and cottage cheese – 130 thousand tons, whey -78 thousand tons, butter – 62 thousand tons, buttermilk, yogurt, kefir – 36 thousand tons.
