Representatives of the meat industry expect revenue growth
More than 50% of the representatives of the meat industry predicts revenue growth in 2017, 33% maintaining its level, the study by the "Expert panel" conducted all-Russian research Institute of meat industry named after V. M. Gorbatov in December 2016

In the study, were interviewed in 54 representative of manufacturers, including top managers and business owners, as well as four experts of the leading industry associations of Russia. As it turned out, optimistic manufacturers are looking at the margin: 46% of companies spoke about the planned increase of profitability in the next year, 39% expect to be protected on the same level as last year.

The vast majority of respondents – 90 percent – cited the high level of competition in the market of meat processing, with the representatives of medium-sized companies predict a significant increase of competition in the future. The main factor of increased competition in the near future 85% of respondents said the decline in consumer activity. Also, according to the respondents, competition amplifies the reduction in consumer's loyalty to brands, which makes possible the pulling of a consumer from one product to another, and also the growing number of factors in the market struggle. Thus, the largest meat producers today are increasingly interested in refining segment, as a result, the power may be a challenge for the meat processing industry. The majority of meat processors (62%) believe that the important factors of competitiveness is the availability of raw materials, modern production infrastructure.

According to the National meat Association, in 2016, the production of all kinds of meat in Russia will grow more than 4% compared to last year's level. At the Institute for agricultural market studies (IKAR) predict a rise of 4.4% by the end of the year will be produced 9.9 million tonnes of meat carcass weight. Growth driver this year is the pig industry: total production of pork in the country closer to 3.4 million tons in slaughter weight (+9% by 2015). Also increasing production and in poultry, the result for the year which could reach 4.7 million tons (+3% by 2015).

At year-end per capita consumption of meat at the end of the year amounted to 73,4-73,5 kg/person vs 71,6 kg/person in 2015, estimated by experts. According to the National Union of pig producers, pork consumption will grow to almost 25 kg/person, which is a record figure for the last 25 years, to 32.7 kg/person will be in poultry meat, 13,8 kg/person on beef. As noted in IKAR, to a certain extent to the stabilization of consumption contributed to the decline of effective demand: the portion of the pent-up demand for investment and consumer goods were transferred on current consumption, including the purchase of refrigerated meat products.
