By the end of 2016, inflation in Russia amounted to 5.4%

Before that, in 2015, the figure was more than twice higher – 12.9 percent. The slowdown in inflation is attributable to the substantial drop in real incomes, which reduced the third year in a row.
According to the Agency, food prices rose by 4.6% in 2016, while non-food rose in price by 6.5%. Services went up by 4.9%.
In Moscow the consumer price index starting in 2016, amounted to 6.2%, in St. Petersburg is 5.2%.
Among products the highest growth of prices showed cucumbers – 23.7%, tomatoes – by 8.3%, grapes – by 5.3% and potatoes – by 3.1%. Butter rose in price by 20.5%.
