The value of imports increased by 29.5% due to a continued higher level of world prices for cheese and curd in comparison with January of 2016. The physical volume of import of cheese was higher by 11.8% (imported 2,4 thousand tons), and cheese – 7.7% lower (imported 12.7 thousand t), including the young cheese is 18.9% more (imported 2.1 tons), and other types of cheese (excluding young) is 11.7% less (imported 10.6 thousand tons).
The main external supplier of cheese and cottage cheese on the territory of the Russian Federation and other dairy products, is the Republic of Belarus (25% of imports in 2013, 42% in 2014, 80% in 2015, 86% – according to preliminary results of the 2016 and 90% in January 2017).
Continue to supply cheese from Argentina, Serbia, Armenia, Uruguay and Switzerland.
